Primary Play, 1965, watercolour and crayon, 25 x 36 cm.
In 1965 my class teacher at Castle Cove Primary School Sydney helped me enter my work in the annual Sunshine Art Competition. I won First Place for this work of cricket play at school for my age group of 9 years.
The Lorna Hodgkinson Sunshine Home was situated at Gore Hill in Sydney’s north and was a residential institution for disabled children and adults. The Art Prize was a way of promoting the facility and its good work to the wider community and of fundraising.
