Porters Pass, Blue Mountains, 2022, oil on canvas, 51 x 51 cm.
On the southern edge of the town of Blackheath in the Blue Mountains, 87 kms. west of Sydney, is spectacular Porters Pass. These sandstone ramparts overlook the rich farmlands of the Kanimbla and Megalong Valleys and the mountains of the Kanangra-Boyd National Park further south.
Here the Crimson Rosella (Platycercus elegans) is a frequent visitor, adding a splash of red to the forested green slopes of the Blue Mountains. It is an iconic Australian parrot native to Eastern Australia.
